Entrust Us with the Illinois Apostille Process

Getting an apostille for your documents can be a bit tricky, and even small mistakes can cause delays or problems with your application. First, you need to figure out if your document is issued by the state or the federal government. This matters because it determines who you need to contact for the apostille or embassy legalization.
State-issued documents usually include things like:
  • Birth certificates
  • Death certificates
  • Driver’s licenses
  • Articles of Incorporation
Federally-issued documents, on the other hand, might be things like:
  • FBI background checks
  • Passports
  • Social Security information

For state documents, you’ll want to reach out to the Illinois Secretary of State, while for federal documents, you’ll have to get in touch with the US Department of State in Washington, DC.

If your destination country isn’t part of the Hague Convention of 1961, you’ll have to contact the Embassy or Consulate for authentication.

Keep in mind that each document needs its own apostille. So, if you’re doing this on your own, you’ll have to submit separate apostille applications for each document that needs authentication because there’s no one-size-fits-all apostille for multiple documents.

Pryor Mobile Notary knows the ropes when it comes to efficiently getting apostilles for your documents. We take care of all the legwork, working with the right offices, including the Illinois state department, federal authorities, and the Embassy or Consulate when necessary, to make sure your documents get their apostilles without a hitch.
